HOST FAMILIES NEEDED

As the Braves look towards the start of the 2024-2025 season, we are looking for host families for our out of town players.

Being a host family can be a very exciting and rewarding experience for those willing to open their homes to the players on the team. Many of our host families have housed players for many years. These young men, ranging in age from 16-20, often are away from home for the first time and are adjusting to a higher level of hockey, new school, and an unfamiliar community, all without the support of their family or friends.  Thus making the role of our host families a critical one.

In most cases, very strong bonds are made between the player and his host family, as well as the player’s family. These relationships will often carry on for years after the player has left the team.

Here are some of the basic requirements for becoming a host family.

  • Space to host player(s) from mid-August through the end of the season including playoffs.
  • Dedicated individual bedroom for each player hosted
  • Dedicated bathroom for player(s), which may be shared with other members of the household of like age/gender
  • Daily meal provisions and preparation
  • Reliable wireless internet access

If you would like to become a host family please call or text Amy Oien at 509.499.5869 or you can e-mail her.
