Jettson Smutek with his host family

As the Braves look towards the start of the 2022-2023 season, we are looking for host families for our out of town players.

Being a host family can be a very exciting and rewarding experience for those willing to open their homes to the players on the team. Many of our host families have housed players for many years. These young men, ranging in age from 16-20, often are away from home for the first time and are adjusting to a higher level of hockey, new school, and an unfamiliar community, all without the support of their family or friends.  Thus making the role of our host families a critical one.

In most cases, very strong bonds are made between the player and his host family, as well as the player’s family. These relationships will often carry on for years after the player has left the team.

If you or your family are interested in the possibility of becoming a Spokane Braves host family or would like more information, please contact: Casey Stockwell at 509-991-6085 or email her at
