Jaiden Jakubowski of the Spokane Braves has committed to play for the B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League champion Vancouver Island University Mariners.
Jakubowski had a record of 9-12-0 with one shutout and a 3.59 goals against average with a .897 save percentage for the Osoyoos Coyotes, Quesnel River Rush and Braves. With the Braves, the Okanagan Falls resident, who grew up in Prince George, was 4-4-0 in 10 games with a 3.37 GAA and a .901 SP with one shutout. In the playoffs, he played in four games and had a .863 save percentage.
“Jaiden came to us this season at the trade deadline and immediately stepped into a leadership role on and off the ice,” said Braves head coach Jason Greenwell. “We loved our time with him and we’re very excited about his commitment to play with VIU in the BCIHL. He’s one of the best teammates a team could ask for and a great goaltender.”
Jakubowski broke into the KIJHL with the Columbia Valley Rockies and posted a record of 8-6 in 17 games .
