Posting a 0.63 goals against average and .983 save percentage earned Spokane Braves goalie Tyler Picha this week’s Young Guns selection.
In a 6-1 win over the Nelson Leafs, and 4-2 loss to the Sicamous Eagles, the Littleton, Colo., native saved 59 of 60 shots in 96 minutes of action, including all 24 Eagles shots in 35:33 of relief time.
“I was playing with confidence and consistency and in a couple situations, tilted the ice in our favour with an aggressive save,” said Picha. “My team was playing strong and I was motivated to match their intensity.”
Against Sicamous, Picha said the Eagles were aggressive because he was coming in cold.
“I had to make a few big saves to let my team know we could shift the momentum,” he said. “After that, I was able to stay consistent to give my team a chance to tie it up.”
In 22 games, Picha has seven wins with a 3.55 GAA and a .914 SP.
