We would like to introduce the rest of the coaching staff for the 2024/2025 season.
Assistant Coach Chris Wagner was with our team for five seasons, spanning from 1999 to 2004. During his playing career with the Spokane Braves, he played in 225 games, and had 144 goals & 184 assists.
Assistant Coach Ben Nelson was a part of our team for two seasons, 1998/1999 and 1999/2000. Following this, he spent four seasons with the Cowichan Valley Capitals of the BCHL. After his time in the BCHL, Ben played at Quinnipiac University (NCAA Division 1) for four years. Upon graduating from college, he played 75 games in the ECHL with the South Carolina Stingrays and Idaho Steelheads, scoring 29 goals and 24 assists.
Assistant Coach Jason Greenwell played five games for us as a 14-year-old during the 2003/2004 season, before becoming a full-time team member the following year. He then joined the Surrey Eagles of the BCHL at the start of the 2007/2008 season, before returning to the Fernie Ghostriders where he completed his KIJHL career. He was recognized as the KIJHL Top Goaltender for the 2009/2010 season. Following his KI career, he spent four years at Eastern Washington University (ACHA/BCIHL). After graduating, he served as the assistant coach for EWU’s BCIHL hockey team for two and a half seasons. He then became head coach and general manager in January 2016, a position he held until the end of the 2017/2018 season.
Our Mental Game Coordinator, Cash Ulrich, was a player on our team for three seasons from 2007 to 2010. Following this, he played at Eastern Washington University (ACHA/BCIHL). Cash is currently an assistant coach for the Whitworth Pirates baseball team, after spending seven seasons as the associate head coach at Yakima Valley College. In addition, he was also an assistant coach for the Yakima Valley Pippens and Wenatchee AppleSox of the West Coast Summer League.
