Young Guns: Tie Schumacher

Spokane Braves forward Tie Schumacher had a goal and four assists in two games and is this week’s Young Guns, presented by the Next Shift Network.

Schumacher collected two assists in their 3-2 overtime loss to the 100 Mile House Wranglers, then had a goal and two assists in the Braves’ 5-2 win over the Fernie Ghostriders. When it came to talking about his play, Schumacher was quick to praise linemates Zach Baumann and Dante Hughes.

“I was fortunate enough to get at least one goal. Playing with those two guys, they make hockey pretty easy,” he said. “I just helped out by breaking the puck out, keeping it in the offensive zone so we could get a lot of pressure on. They are so good at seeing the ice and moving the puck out of the defensive zone to the offensive zone.”

Schumacher knows the puck will come back to him, he just has to be ready.

Schumacher has 17 points in eight games which ranks third among the KIJHL leading point-producers. He’s tied for second overall with Kimberley Dynamiter Tristan Weill.
